Find Out What You Can Do
Building a mutual aid community during times like these is more than a good idea, it’s an essential. Click the button below to learn how to do it.
Is It Coming?
It seems abundantly clear that World War III is either just around the corner or has already started.
Even though we, in the United States, have not seen a great deal of hardship as a result of what is going on globally, we certainly will be dramatically impacted in the coming months and years. If we look at what is going on in the two countries in the world that are currently a major war zone, we can get an idea of what we can expect to happen here in the United States.
Things like social unrest, a crumbling economic system and economic collapse, a deteriorating political system, supply chain problems, energy production and availability problems, perhaps even violence in the streets; whether that be from foreign forces, extremists, or just our own people who are fed up with economic hardship or political divisions.
I’m not even going to get into things like kinetic warfare on American soil or nuclear warfare on American soil. Let’s just look at the economic and social impacts.
Are You Ready?
Are you ready to go to the grocery store and have limited selection and have difficulty even paying for the few things that are available? Are you ready to go to the ATM and find that there is no money? Are you ready to go to the gas pump and find that there is no gas? Are you ready to stand in line at your bank only to be told that there’s no more money today, come back tomorrow? Are you ready to be laid off and not be able to find a new job?
What Can You Do?
Prepare Economically
Pay-off debt
Pay off as much debt as you possibly can before the economic collapse. Why? Because, in many cases, debt is a burden that you will not be able to bear in the future. If you have a mortgage on your house, what if you can’t pay it? Now you have nowhere to live. If you are making a car payment, what if you can’t pay it? Now you have no way to get to work. Paying off debt is very hard but it will put you in a much better position after the collapse.
Alternative sources of income
Coming up with alternate sources of income, can mean the difference between life and death during a collapse. Look into “side hustles”.
Alternative “currencies”
If the dollar is no longer a viable instrument of transaction, you are going to need something else. Things like; gold, silver, barterable items, time banking, etc.
Bartering
Think about how you would be able to barter in a situation like the Venezuelans found themselves in or the Argentinians or the Lebanese. Do you have skills, goods, services, etc. that you can barter and know how to barter?
Building a network
Building a mutual assistance, and mutual aid network is more important now than ever. This needs to be done prior to the collapse to be most effective. Talk with your neighbors and friends, people at church and social organizations that you trust.
Prepare Physically
Get your house in order
Get your house in order, both literally and figuratively. If there is anything that needs repaired, repair it now while you still can. Think about what in your life needs fixing that you’ve been putting off. Procrastination in this area may cost you more than you think.
Get your resources in order
- Supplies
Stock up, stock up, stock up.
- Food and water
Not only water supply, but also water filtration is very important to consider.
- Safety
How will you protect yourself and your family during social unrest or periods of time without rule of law?
- Medical
Do you have adequate medical supplies? Do you have medical needs that rely on being able to access certain medical supplies? Consider these things and prepare in advance.
- Your body
It’s important to be in good physical condition during times of hardship and stress. You don’t want to be the one that can’t handle the physical demands. If so, then, you become a burden to your family and friends, rather than an asset.
Prepare Mentally
Psychological preparation
Prepare yourself now, psychologically and mentally for the inevitable difficulties and hardships coming in the next few months and years. You don’t want to wait until the crisis happens to try to prepare yourself mentally for it.
Spiritual preparation
The same can be said for your spiritual health. That must also be prepared in advance.
Have A Game Plan
Consider all the different scenarios
Make a list of all the things that you may need to be prepared for in the coming months and years, and then make an outline or check-off list so that your preparations are organized. Consider both a “bug-in” situation and a “bug-out” situation.
Don’t be that person
Don’t be that person that waits until the last minute and then tries to figure out what to do after the crisis has already happened. Be proactive rather than reactive. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Hope Is Good But Being Prepared Is Better
Hopefully all of this will be not necessary, but there is a very real possibility that this is going to be a very very difficult few years. This is probably the biggest social and political threat since what the European countries faced during World War II.
This time, however, it will not be limited to one theater of operation. This is going to be global. This will affect Americans in the way that Europeans were affected during World War II. It will affect Americans the way Americans were affected during the Great Depression.
It is more important now than ever to be well informed and well prepared. Your life, and the life of your family, could depend upon it. The journey of 1000 miles begins with one step, so take that first step and move down the road toward preparedness.
