The Ultimate Guide to Building Your Kommunity

KoinBlog, June 17, 2024June 20, 2024

What It Is

KommunityKoin is your source for information about time banking, building a time banking community (or Kommunity), building cooperative communities through time banking and the home of the revolutionary time banking app called KoinPurse that puts the power of a time bank at your fingertips in an easy and convenient way. (Note: the word “Kommunity” refers to a community that utilizes the KommunityKoin and/or KoinPurse platforms).

Utopia Really Can Exist; Let’s Look at Veridia, where Kommunity makes utopia possible

Hard times are nothing new for many people, but times will get harder in the coming months and years. Now is the time to prepare for that. Discover the power of connection, contribute your unique skills, and join the movement to build a Kommunity that reaches beyond boundaries, making a lasting impact on both personal and collective well-being. Building your Kommunity, before things get even worse in these uncertain times, is the key to the safety, success and prosperity of your family – no matter what difficulties may come.

How and Why Kommunity is Your Survival Strategy

KommunityKoin is the right place to start building your Kommunity today. What do you have to lose…You have everything to gain.

Important Disclaimer: Every Kommunity is an independent group started and run independently and is not directly affiliated with KommunityKoin. KommunityKoin is an educational hub about the subject of time banking and how to start a time bank. We do not host, monitor, or warrant Kommunities in any way whatsoever. It is solely the responsibility of the user to ensure their own welfare at all times.

How to Do It

How it Works – It’s a simple Three Step Process to build your Kommunity:

1. Find People with Whom You Want to Build a Kommunity

Many may find this the most difficult part of the process. In today’s world, we tend to be fairly isolated and don’t know that many people, don’t really know or associate with our neighbors, and don’t actively participate in community activities. And, the people that we do know don’t tend to be very interested in new things. Most just want to stay in their own little rut, keep to the things and people that they know. But, we must, as a society, return to community living – it is literally a survival issue.

The building of Social Capital is crucial for human survival, especially given the times that we are faced with. Social capital refers to the networks of relationships among people in a community, society, or organization, and the benefits of reciprocity and trustworthiness that arise from those relationships. It’s essentially the value that comes from social connections and the resources that come along with those connections.

We really do need each other and are not going to survive very well in the coming months and years without the support of a Kommunity. So, even if it does seem like a lot of effort to get a group of people to work together and care about one another, it really is worth it.

2. Start a WhatsApp Group (for example) to Coordinate Your Kommunity.

Note: Whatever platform you choose for coordinating your Kommunity, be sure and research any potential pitfalls of using that platform – and always use common sense and stay safe. We are not recommending any particular platform. Choosing a platform and building your Kommunity is something that we leave entirely up to you. You know your needs and situation better than anyone and you should have the freedom to build your Kommunity in any way that you see fit.

3. Use KoinPurse as Your Time Credit Management App.

KoinPurse

You don’t have to use Time Credits in a mutual aid community – you can certainly build and run a community without it – but the addition of time credits makes a community much more viable. Without the use of time credits, a community tends to lose cohesion fairly quickly. Time credits really are the glue that holds a community together and the “wind beneath its wings”. When a mutual aid community adds the use to time credits then it becomes a time bank – and when that time bank utilizes the KommunityKoin and/or KoinPurse platforms, it becomes a Kommunity.

So, how does a Time Bank differ from a Mutual Aid Community? The most important difference is the addition of time credits. These credits provide a system for monitoring, promoting, and regulating the activities within a Kommunity. By using time credits, a Kommunity not only incentivizes its members to actively participate but it also allows the Kommunity to tangibly monitor that participation. The number of time credits exchanged is an indication of the level of participation of each member, participation between members, and participation within the Kommunity as a whole.

Ultimately, the use of time credits, or Koins as we like to call them, is a simple and reliable way of keeping your Kommunity active and thriving.

That’s all there is to it…simple really.

It really is easy to start a Kommunity and the benefits are innumerable. The only reason not to do it is a lack of motivation and, sooner or later, even if you don’t have the natural motivation, the world is going to give you a “kick in the pants”. We are headed into unprecedented times, a MetaCrisis  – World War III, Economic Collapse, Ecological Disasters, Disease, Famine, Pestilence.

We live in uncertain times, and in such times, fostering community resilience becomes more important than ever. Imagine a network where neighbors support neighbors, where every skill and act of kindness is valued and reciprocated. Building a Kommunity isn’t just a safety net; it’s an investment in collective strength and solidarity. By pooling resources, time, and expertise, you can create a Kommunity that thrives even in the face of the most difficult adversities.

So, don’t wait…start building your Kommunity today. You’ll be glad that you did.
